Don’t miss the light up of the most extensive Christmas light display in the city. It MAY be the first time Rachel Notley will take the honour of launching this Alberta holiday tradition which began in 1985.

2016 Celebrate the Season (Dec 2-23, 2016, light up Dec 1)

The December 2nd event will begin Celebrate The Season, a 3 week long festivity (Dec 2-23, 2016) at the Alberta Legislature featuring daily performances by choirs across the province (performance schedule), complimentary hot chocolate and treats, all through the front entrance of the 1912 building, which reopened in time for last year’s event.

The light-up on Dec 1,2015 will begin at 5pm with Premier Notley (or a designate) lighting up the grounds. Premier Notley was out of the city last year, so this may be her first time lighting up the lights! There will be cookies and hot chocolate served in the rotunda following the lights being turned on, as well as a choir performance.

If you miss the the light up and the Celebrate The Season events, don’t worry. The lights will turn off January 31st this year! The grounds will be lit up daily from Dec 1 to Jan 31 from 6:30a-8:30a, and 4:30p-12:00a.

To get here, take exit A at Grandin station and follow the sounds and sights.
