Medicine Wheel Garden Opens Downtown
The medicine wheel garden opened this spring by a local Cree elder to celebrate the aboriginal story of the community.
Located on the west side of the Shaw Conference Centre behind the Edmonton Welcome Centre, the garden invites everyone to become part of an ongoing narrative. Native communities have in the past used the medicine wheel for ceremonies and rituals, blessings, cleansing, healing, and guidance. The new garden hopes to offer a peaceful space for those in the downtown area to enjoy.
When on location, visitors may discover more about the symbolism behind the colours and the wheel, as well as a corresponding animal trail within the garden. An interpretive sign offers more information about the garden.
The short Yegventures video takes you inside the garden.
Super cool. Can’t wait to see it in full glory next summer. #yegexpo
You can still see it now before it gets colder. You’ve been entered for the #yegexpo contest. Each comment & share on a new page is an entry 🙂 Also see the contest page for more contests.
