Communities Offer Services to Ft Mac Evacuees

Albertans have responded with love and generosity during this time, with homes and businesses offering whatever they can to evacuees. While the City of Edmonton has organized the largest efforts, there is a lot of outpouring from communities across the province and Canada. Beyond Red Cross, there are also other trusted organizations and businesses which have pledged to help. They include those which can care specifically to special demographics: from children with autism, to pets, and to veterans. Local religious institutions also have come together to do what they can.

Also moxie has advised today that they are not offering free food anymore.

  • Earls is no longer offering any offers for the Fort McMurray evacuees as of Friday

  • Papa John’s Spruce Grove is no longer offering two large pizzas may be considering a different offer

  • We are working to organize a Day of Relief in Edmonton Hawrelak Park July 1/16. Music , BBQ and activities for kids. Displaced residents and emergency responders would eat free and the food would be on a donation basis. We are contacting Red Cross, United Way, City council, parks and rec, all the regulatory bodies to make this happen with legitimacy. There has been a letter to Premier Notley to declare Canada Day 2016 a special day for Canadian to celebrate our heroes and efforts by all to the wildfires. If you could assist us with direction to bring this to fruition it would be greatly appreciated.

  • boston pizza in west ed is not offering free pizza and drink anymore, when i asked the employees, they said they’re offering 50% off the meal
